procell microchanneling faq
What is Procell Microchanneling?
Procell Microchanneling is a non-ablative skin rejuvenation treatment that uses a precision device to create controlled micro-perforations in the skin. These micro-injuries activate the body's natural healing response, stimulating collagen and elastin production while allowing specialized growth factor serums to penetrate deeply into the tissue. The result is progressive improvement in skin texture, tone, firmness, and overall health.
How is this different from microneedling?
Procell uses a stamping motion rather than a rolling motion, which creates more uniform, precise perforations with less epidermal tearing. The device is also used in combination with Procell's own growth factor serum system, which is applied during treatment to maximize absorption. The serum formulation — containing recombinant growth factors, cytokines, and DNA repair enzymes — is a significant part of what differentiates the results.
What skin concerns does Procell address?
Fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity, uneven skin tone and texture, enlarged pores, acne scarring, sun damage, hyperpigmentation, dull or congested skin, and overall skin health and glow. It can be used on the face, neck, décolletage, and body.
Is Procell safe for all skin types?
Yes — Procell is safe for all Fitzpatrick skin types. It is a non-ablative treatment with no downtime and a low risk profile when performed by a trained provider.
What does the treatment feel like?
Most clients describe the sensation as mild pressure or light scratching. A topical numbing cream may be applied before treatment to maximize comfort. The treatment itself typically takes 30–60 minutes depending on the area being treated.
What does my skin look like immediately after?
Immediately after treatment the skin appears pink to red, similar to a mild sunburn. This typically subsides within 24–72 hours. There is no peeling, scabbing, or significant downtime.
How much downtime is there?
Minimal. Most clients return to normal activities the same day. Redness typically resolves within 24–72 hours. You should avoid strenuous exercise, sweating, and submerging for 48 hours after treatment.
When will I see results?
Some clients notice an immediate glow and improved texture after the first session. Deeper collagen remodeling continues for weeks after each treatment, with progressive improvement visible over the course of the series. Do not assess final results after a single session.
How many sessions do I need?
A series of 3–6 sessions spaced 2–4 weeks apart is recommended for optimal results. The number of sessions depends on your specific concerns and goals. After the initial series, maintenance sessions every 6–8 weeks support ongoing skin health and results.
Are results permanent?
The collagen produced during treatment is your own and is permanent in that sense. However, the natural aging process continues. Regular maintenance sessions are recommended to preserve and build on your results over time.
Who is not a candidate for Procell Microchanneling?
Active skin infections, open wounds, or active cold sores in the treatment area. Current or recent use of Accutane (within 6 months). Active chemotherapy or radiation. Uncontrolled diabetes. Pregnancy. Known allergy to Aloe Vera (Procell serums contain aloe). Please complete the Pre-Consultation History form before your appointment so we can evaluate your specific situation.
Can Procell be used on acne-prone skin?
Yes — Procell is not contraindicated for acne and may actually help reduce breakouts over time by improving skin health and reducing congestion. Some clients experience a brief purge early in the series as existing congestion surfaces more rapidly. This is temporary and typically resolves quickly.
Can Procell be combined with other treatments?
Yes, but timing matters. Procell should not be combined with laser treatments, chemical peels, or other resurfacing procedures in the same area within 2–4 weeks. Your provider will build a treatment plan that sequences your treatments appropriately.
What home care is required?
Procell Step 1 & 2 Aftercare Serums are used twice daily beginning 24 hours after treatment. Consistent home care between sessions is one of the most significant factors in your results. SPF 30–50 daily is non-negotiable throughout treatment and ongoing.
Can I wear makeup after treatment?
Avoid makeup on the treatment area for a minimum of 24 hours after treatment. After that, resume as normal.
What products should I avoid during the series?
Retinoids, retinol, vitamin A, AHAs, BHAs, and chemical exfoliants should be discontinued 2 weeks before each treatment and until skin has fully recovered after. Your provider will guide you on when it is safe to reintroduce these.
Can procell microchanneling treatments be combined with other services?
Yes — Procell microchanneling treatments complement many other aesthetic services offered at Skin Strategy, including paramedical micropigmentation, inkless scar revision and plasma treatments. Combining services is done strategically and with appropriate spacing to ensure the skin is fully healed. We'll discuss any combination approach during your consultation to build a plan that best supports your overall goals.
