procell hair rejuvenation faq
What is Procell Hair Rejuvenation?
Procell Hair Rejuvenation is a microchanneling treatment for the scalp that combines controlled micro-perforations with a specialized hair regrowth serum to stimulate dormant follicles and support the transition from the resting phase into the active growth phase. It is a non-surgical, non-pharmaceutical approach to hair thinning and loss.
How does it work?
The Procell device creates precise micro-perforations in the scalp, activating the body's healing response and stimulating circulation in the follicular environment. The Procell Hair Regrowth Serum is applied during and after treatment and penetrates deeply through the open microchannels. The serum supports the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway involved in hair follicle cycling, helping follicles transition from the resting (telogen) phase into the active growth (anagen) phase.
What types of hair loss does this treat?
Procell Hair Rejuvenation is most effective for androgenetic alopecia (hereditary thinning), diffuse thinning, and hair loss related to stress, hormonal shifts, nutritional deficiency, or postpartum changes. It is not appropriate for scarring alopecia (lichen planopilaris, frontal fibrosing alopecia, CCCA, discoid lupus), which involves permanent follicle destruction that cannot be reversed.
Can it be used anywhere on the scalp?
Yes — treatment can be targeted to specific areas of thinning or applied across the full scalp depending on your pattern of loss. Your provider will assess your specific situation at consultation.
What does the treatment feel like?
Most clients describe the sensation as mild pressure or light scratching on the scalp. No numbing is typically required. The treatment takes approximately 30–45 minutes.
What does my scalp look like after treatment?
The scalp may appear mildly pink after treatment. This typically subsides within a few hours. There is no significant downtime.
How much downtime is there?
Minimal. Avoid strenuous exercise and sweating for 24 hours after each session. You may shower and resume normal activities otherwise.
When will I see results?
When will I see results?Hair growth cycles are slow — results typically become visible 3–6 months after beginning the series as new hair progresses through the growth cycle. Do not assess results until the full protocol is complete. Patience and commitment to the full series are essential.
How many sessions do I need?
The standard protocol is 6 sessions spaced 2 weeks apart over 3 months. After completing the series, maintenance sessions every 3–6 months support ongoing scalp health and results.
Can results be guaranteed?
No — hair growth results cannot be guaranteed. Individual response varies based on genetics, overall health, scalp condition, hormonal influences, age, and lifestyle. There is currently no method to determine with certainty whether a follicle is permanently inactive before beginning treatment. A follicle is generally considered non-responsive only after completing the recommended series with no observable regrowth.
Can I use this alongside other hair loss treatments?
Finasteride, minoxidil, and other prescription hair loss treatments should be disclosed at consultation. PRP or PRF to the scalp requires a minimum 4-week gap before Procell treatment. Your provider will evaluate your current regimen and advise accordingly.
Who is not a candidate?
Scarring alopecia is an absolute contraindication — microchanneling cannot regenerate permanently destroyed follicles. Active scalp infections or open wounds must be fully resolved before treatment. Previous hair transplants or scalp surgery must be disclosed and evaluated. Scleroderma or connective tissue disorders require physician clearance. Please complete the Pre-Consultation History form before your appointment.
Is it safe for all skin and hair types?
Yes — Procell Hair Rejuvenation is safe for all skin types and all hair types and textures.
What home care is required between sessions?
Daily application of the Procell Hair Aftercare serum to the thinning areas is essential between sessions. Apply to a clean, dry scalp, massage gently, and allow to fully absorb before styling. Consistent home care between appointments is one of the most significant factors in your results.
Do I need to change how I care for my hair during the series?
Avoid aggressive towel drying — pat gently instead. Minimize heat styling where possible. Avoid chemical treatments including coloring, perming, and relaxing during the active series. Discuss timing of any chemical services with your provider.
Can I continue using my regular hair products?
Yes, once the serum has fully absorbed. Avoid applying heavy oils, dry shampoo, or styling products directly before or immediately after treatment sessions.
Can procell hair rejuvenation treatments be combinded with other services?
Yes — Procell hair rejuvenation treatments complement many other aesthetic services offered at Skin Strategy, nano brows, smp and fmp. Combining services is done strategically and with appropriate spacing to ensure the skin is fully healed. We'll discuss any combination approach during your consultation to build a plan that best supports your overall goals.
